When starting using XCode, I would recommend downloading the necessary documentation right away so that when you need to quickly search for something, its right there and takes a lot less time to load.
Open XCode and goto Preferences. Go to the Documentaion tab and click Get on the documentation dockets you need.
One more thing, keep an eye on your data usage as some documentation sets are close to 1GB in size.
